Default Celebrate the Canadian Launch of the Zune: Win a Customized Zune 4

Today is June 13th, and that's the official day the Zune launches in Canada. So it's contest time! The fine folks on Microsoft Canada's Zune team sent me a black Zune 4 with one of the new Zune Originals designs on the back (pictured below) - a Meomi design called "Percussion". Meomi is the talented duo of Vicki Wong (based out of Vancouver) and Michael Murphy (based out of Los Angeles). OK, so that's half Canadian. No matter, the artwork rocks!

So how can you win this Zune? First off, because this contest is to celebrate the launch of the Zune in Canada, I'm going to limit this contest to Canadians living in Canada (none of that "I'm living abroad" or "I was born in Canada" stuff). I'm not going to check passports, but the shipping address must be a Canadian address. Yeah, I don't normally limit contests, but as the Zune launches in new markets I'm going to try my best to get a Zune from the respective Microsoft team in that local market and we'll repeat this process for the residents of that country.

The rules are simple: post a message to this discussion thread telling me a song you like by a Canadian artist (look at me honouring CANCON!). It can be any song, any genre, but it must be by a Canadian artist (or an artist generally acknowledged to be Canadian even if they live outside Canada today). One post per person allowed, and the winner will be picked randomly from all the entries. If it's your first post to our forums, it might not appear right away - please allow 24 hours for your post to appear. The contest will run for seven days, ending on June the 20th at 10 AM (GMT -7).

Woohoo! First post! GO CANADA GO! About time.

First artist, probably one of the most underrated Canadian artist who just emerged with his first solo album last year.

Justin Nozuka - Save Him (from the album Holly). I recommend everyone to listen to him.

Default My Favorite Canadian Artist

Hey Jason! I'm absolutely loving it that the Zune is finally here! Anyway, it's also awesome that you're giving away a brand new Zune too!

My favorite Canadian artist has gotta be none other than Michael Buble (he hails from Halifax). He is a jazz crooner who does beautiful remakes of old songs and creates new ones that are gems to my ears. I wish he'd tour in this part of the Altlantic Canada.

Well, there you have it! Cheers mate!

Just bought (on CD too!) Ivana Santilli's new album TO.NY and I'm loving it. I'm not usually a pop guy, but this album is earworming its way into my brain cells. The first single Whateva U Want is especially catchy.
I'm definitely catching her performance at Revival next Friday.
Yay Zune in Canada, finally!!!! This player deserves much respect.

Default This is great!

Because I am montrealer, I would say "Wake up" from Arcade Fire. I like all the songs from their first CD.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Default Clearly Canadian

I'll go with "Horsefish" from Amon Tobin's latest album, "Foley Room". His wiki page mentions that he is a "Montreal-based Brazilian musician". Does this fill the canadian requirement?

Just to be on the safe side, I'll mention another one... The song "Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls" from the band "Godspeed You! Black Emperor". Some of the musicians are canadian. That one has got to count for sure!

Thanks and good luck everyone,

Antoine

Default Canadian Song

I'm so glad to see the Zune in Canada.

Well my song would have to be 38 years old by the Tragically Hip.

But in light of the recent events with CBC and CTV, The Hockey Night in Canada Theme song by Dolores Claman. It just wont be the same on saturday nights...
