Default Windows Mobile 5.0 vs Windows Mobile 6 Comparison Document

http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/archive/2007/03/18/windows-mobile-5-0-vs-windows-mobile-6-comparison-document.aspx

"Since we announced Windows Mobile 6 at 3GSM the most common question I get from customers and partners is how the product compares to Windows Mobile 5.0 and what the incremental capabilities are. The second most popular question is - what features require Exchange 2007."

Jason Langridge is sharing with us a document (PDF) that highlights the new features in Windows Mobile 6 by comparing it with Windows Mobile 5.0. The document also highlights the differences between the various flavours of Windows Mobile 6 - Classic, Professional and Standard. The only difference that the document didn't highlight is that Windows Mobile 5.0 has an extra ".0" in its name and Windows Mobile 6 does not.

Interesting that the "Preferred Device Description" for both Windows Mobile 6 Standard and Professional is "Windows Mobile powered smartphone".

But the important thing to note is that the "Windows Mobile powered smartphone" is spelled with the lowercase "s." "Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone" is spelled with a capital "S."

Microsoft never had a good branding department and it still doesn't. Which explains Windows Live and Live Search.
