Default Mobinaute.com Compares the C500 and MPx220

Mobinaute.com has posted an interesting side-by-side feature comparison of the Motorola MPx220 and the SPV C500 Smartphones. It's not a comprehensive list, but it does cover off the major differences. If you've been wondering which phone is right for you, or perhaps you are wondering if you made the right Smartphone choice, then you should check out this article. (Translation courtesy of Google.)

I'd like to point out that one part of this review is completely wrong: it is quite possible to add new words to the iTap dictionary, though it's a bit different than how T9 works. To add a new word: press the first letter of the word; use the up/down arrow keys to change the letter to the correct one if it didn't choose the one you want; then press the next letter and lather, rinse, repeat. When you're done, hit space. The word will be added to the dictionary.

Since I figured this out iTap has become much more useful to me.

It is a good news, but unfortunately add a word to the iTap dictionnary is not intuitive, and nothing is explained about this in the (french version) user manual, so no one here has knows it is possible. But anyway it seems very annoying method, and it surely takes more time than to type a new word in multipress mode. I'll try this and ask for the article to be corrected.

Yes, I don't think it's explained at all in the rather anemic manual; I had to look it up online - and that's in the English manual! But once I found that out I've been quite happy with iTap. My last T9 device did not do something that I like about iTap, which is the ability for it to complete longer words by hitting the right-arrow on the d-pad.

Adding new words to the dictionary is not as annoying as it sounds as it will try to complete sub-parts of words and can often get those right. If you are adding a new word which is a combination of two existing words (or close to one) you may be able to get away with fewer keystrokes. But I don't add new words often; the English dictionary seems to be fairly complete.

Complete? Yes. Smart?

Well, I hate when I type I then an apostrophe, and it gives me a U when I hit the 8 key.

How many words are spelled I'u ?

It's good, but not great, and I'd rather have T9.

How many words are spelled I't or I'v? Unless your phone has something else on the 8 key than mine, I don't know what you're trying to spell

However, this is a problem for many other words, like I'd and I'm. iTap's apostrophe handling seems to be its weak spot.

Actually, it gets that right if you press the "e" key after it (surprisingly!). One shouldn't expect iTap or T9 to display the right letters halfway through the word.
