Default A Look at Web-Based Mobile Aggregators

http://webworkerdaily.com/2007/03/20/rss-on-the-go-a-look-at-web-based-mobile-aggregators/

"You can read RSS/Atom feeds through desktop applications, browsers, email applications…you name it. The challenge is that most of these feed readers require you to pick one method and stick with it. If you’re in a feed-reading mood and you’re not at the computer that has that desktop application or a full browser, then what?"

Since it is now pretty easy to do all your RSS reading on the web, the separate feed reader application is becoming less and less needed. My favorite of the web based methods mentioned in this article is NewsGator. The ability to stay synchronized across web browsers makes life very simple.

I like Google Reader for when I have net access, and for my Pocket PC, I prefer pRSSreader. Ideally pRSSreader would cache images so there aren't so many red x's, but I can live with that.

PS: What's with the Pocket PC picture?

Exactly - That's such a key factor when you have a large number of feeds.

So now I've tried NewsAlloy, Bloglines and Google Reader. NewsAlloy has a nice desktop browser interface, but seriously lacks in the mobile browser interface. Bloglines is OK, but I don't like the way it marks everything read before I've actually read anything. Google reader only shows one sentence when I'd like to see a summary.

So far, the reader built into Opera Mini is my favorite mobile browser-based reader, but doens't sync with a deskyop browser. I do like NewsBreak, but again, I lose the ability to sync across browsers.

What to do...

Now there's a feature for you!

I'm surprised that we haven't seen more sync functionality to date. This is something that I've been asking about for 4 years now. You would think SOMEONE would exploit this void. :?
