Default Gates Sees Big Dollars in Little Devices

"Bill Gates doesn't think his company has been slow to crack the cell phone market. He just thinks the little devices have yet to catch up to the power of his company's software. Still, with cell phones quickly gaining the power PCs had not that long ago, Microsoft's chairman sees a bright future, in which the company's operating system can quickly gain share from Nokia and others that run rival software."

Well Bill thinks all he has to do is name something "Outlook" stick it in a phone and we will all rush out to buy it! Bill, it has to work like Outlook too. You don't have to leave almost everything out of the Smartphone version. Further on in the interview we get the "working with others" line. Let me translate that for you: "looking for who we should buy to catch up". I've said before this not like the PC market. Verizon, Cingular, Motorola, to name a few, are enormous and have a lot to say about how this is done like it or not. Last time I checked those giants aren't moving too fast either.

I would agree with this. Linux and Palm have been slow. Windows Mobile is doing better than those guys.
