Default Another Sign that Dell Might Be Working on a Smartphone

http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/2007/04/another_sign_th.html

"Those rumors about Dell making a smartphone just got more support. According to a report from DigiTimes, Quanta Computer is building a Windows Mobile device code-named "fly" that will ship under the Dell brand. So maybe Dell is working on a smartphone after all. But what about the story that Dell might buy Palm?"

Just what we need, a Dell Smartphone. What's this about Dell buying Palm? Folks I may be sticking my neck out here but I think the Smartphone market is pretty saturated right now. What we really need is more internal/OS improvements rather than 100 more models to choose from.

Dell has the remarkable ability to drop prices in any market they enter into - it happened with Pocket PCs. Suddenly Pocket PCs got affordable! (under $500) So I say come on in Dell!

I welcome new vendors. I think the existing market is too dominated by HTC. Not that HTC does a bad job or anything. I think that to be healthy, we need to see more companies selling devices. Samsung and Moto have had a huge impact on the Smartphone market in the last year. I imagine Dell could change things even more.
