Default Official "Watermelon Red" Zune Photos, Release Pegged for June 10th

http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/04/red-zune-coming-on-june-10th-try-and-contain-your-excitement/

If you've been holding your breath for the release of the red Zune, you can start to exhale slowly - but make that exhale last six more days, because that's when the "watermelon red" Zune will be available from both Target or Amazon. It's quite interesting that Target has the retail lock on the red Zune - makes me wonder what kind of cross-promotional buy-in they made with Microsoft, and if the red Zune will be offered at a special price or with some sort of bundle. On November 14th, launch day of the Zune, Target was selling them for $249 but you received a $25 Target gift card with purchase, which greatly reduced the price of any accessories purchased. Maybe we'll see something similar again?

Have you been holding off buying a Zune until this red model is released? I know Mike Temporale from Smartphone Thoughts has been - anyone else? Two more pictures after the break (photos pulled from Engadget.com).

Oh man... That's one sweeet device. Just look at the richness of the color! No dull white or black on this sucker.

The timing kind of sucks a little - I'll be in the US this Wednesday - Friday (6th - 8th). I'm guessing there's very little chance of me finding one of these before I fly out on Friday.

Ah, puns. Watermelons are sweet too.

Hey, black is still hot.

I still love my black Zune, but I have to admit... that red Zune does look pretty sweet.

And I think that's great that Target wanted to get the "brick-and-mortar" exclusive on this. Anything to help spread the word on the Zune.

Myself, I'm more partial to richer, deeper reds...it would be nice to see what this thing looked like in person.

I stopped in at the local Target last night - no luck. Yeah, I know I'm a couple days early, but I fly out this evening. So I thought I should try, just in case they had them accidently sitting out on the floor. Sadly, they didn't and the kid working in the electronics section had never heard of a red zune.

I guess I'm stuck having it shipped up to me. Oh well.

So do I, and the Zune isn't released here - the only Zunes in Canada are those "smuggled" in.
