Default Verizon and Sprint to Cut Portability Fees

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/nf/20041115/bs_nf/28414

"Verizon Wireless and Sprint (NYSE: FON - news) are giving their customers a break, cutting their fees for number portability, which the carriers have charged all customers to meet the costs of enabling wireless users to keep their phone numbers when they switch service providers. Verizon said it is dropping the 40-cent monthly regulatory charge, while Sprint reportedly is cutting its fee to 25 cents from 40 cents. Verizon will still collect a monthly 5-cent federal regulatory fee. The operators stand to lose millions with the change, with Verizon reporting that it has brought in some US$15 million per month since implementing the 40-cent fee in March."

It's not very often that you see a company turn down $15 million in monthly revenue. Way to go Sprint and Verizon.

This is a good thing, however I have no doubt that money was being used for customer service. They probably figured they were putting way too much into that department already, especially with the worry free guarantee in place.

:grinning devil:
