Verizon and Motorola Officially Announce the Q Smartphone
"Motorola, Inc. and Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, today announced that the highly anticipated Moto Q™ will be available starting on May 31. The Moto Q is exclusively available through Verizon Wireless and customers can purchase it online at http://forums.thoughtsmedia.com/www.verizonwireless.com on May 31 or at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store on June 5." I just received a copy of todays press release from Motorola and Verizon. I guess the real surprise here, is that both Ed Zander's comment that the Q will launch this week and Verizon's comment that it won't ship this week, are correct. The product is officially announced and will be available for purchase starting next week. Speaking of purchase, the price is truly irresistible. You can pick up this Windows Mobile Smartphone with a built-in QWERTY keyboard for just $199 after a $100 instant rebate, data plan, and a 2 year contract. That's a great deal, if you ask me. You can find the full press release on Motorola's website, just in case you're interested in reading it. Or you can check out the product and all it's details over at Verizon's website.

True push email is supported via the GoodMail client, which is a much more business friendly client with features for remote data wipe, remote password management, enterprise class encryption, secure over the air provisioning and management, and more.
AKU 2.0 will probably be released as a firmware update later.

Yeah, I use Good on my Treo650 right now, I do like it a lot - and will probably use it on the Q when I test it out...few little missing functions - you still can't email attachments & you can't create recurring tasks or appointments on the device - but I hear those features are all in their roadmap for future compatability...

All I have to say is that:
As good as an idea it may seem to get the Q, I still vividly remember my MPX 200. Nope, no more Motorola's for me, again, ever, period.
AND who recently measured highest radiation for cellphone manufacturer??

I completely agree that the Q's price is very reasonable. It's Verizon's data plan's that bend you over the barrel.
<--speaking as a current xv6700 user.

Yeah, I was one of the first ones with an MPx200 back in the day...Moto learned a lot from that as evidenced in the flawless implementation of WM in the MPx220
Let's just hope that by announcing this thing almost a year ago (officially) and taking this long to get it out that Moto learned their lessons from the Mpx200 & MPx220!
Initial feedback from some of the testers out there (not including Ed Zander) is quite positive. I think it's worth a 15 day Verizon preview.
And Verizon's data plans aren't that bad - when you get their bundled voice/data plans it certainly the same or slightly less than Cingular!

I just switched from Cingular (and will probably switch back if they get Q like device) and this is not my experience. I just rechecked both sites for their standard rates and this is what I found:
Cingular/Smartphone/450 minutes/Ulmtd Data - $59.98 total per month
Verizon/Smartphone/450 min Ulmtd Data Core Pkg - $79.99 total per month
Now if you know a way I can knock $20/month off my Verizon bill (minus my applicable discounts), you have my attention.
