Default TiVo, Microsoft and Intel Announce TiVoToGo on Windows XP and Smartphones

http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/20050608corp.htm

"For TV-loving road warriors, leaving home often means leaving their favorite shows behind. But just in time for the busy summer travel season -- the Travel Industry Association (TIA) predicts a record-breaking 328 million trips will be taken from June to August -- millions of people will now be able to hit the road, rails or friendly skies with their favorite TV shows in tow. TiVo Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Intel Corp. today announced a nationwide upgrade to the TiVoToGo(TM) service, enabling people for the first time to move TiVo content stored on a Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP-based PC onto Windows Mobile(TM)-based Portable Media Centers powered by Intel(R) Mobile Media Technology as well as newer Windows Mobile-based Smartphones and Pocket PCs."

To celebrate, Tivo is giving away a "travel entertainment package" that contains a Windows Mobile-based Creative Zen Portable Media Center and a 40-hour TiVo Series2 DVR. There is one draw a day from June 21 until September 6. For more information on how to enter this contest, check out the Tivo website. If you already have a Smartphone and a Tivo, you can learn more about how to setup TivoToGo here.

This sounds pretty cool. With TiVoToGo and the recent price drop on the HD version of the DirecTV TiVo box, maybe it's time for me to geat aboard the TiVo bandwagon.
