Default Samsung Hosted BlackJack FAQ

http://erms.samsungusa.com/customer/sea/jsp/faqs/faqs_view.jsp?PG_ID=557&AT_ID=75564&PROD_SUB_ID=558&PROD_ID=-1

You know until this morning, I thought I knew everything there was to know about the Samsung Blackjack, but I was mistaken. Samsung is hosting a huge online knowledge base filled with all kinds of useful information and after browsing through some of it today I learned a thing or two that I did not know before. For instance, I didn't know that the Blackjack supported FDN (Fixed Dial Number) mode. While I probably will never use this feature I do enjoy the fact that I now know that I have it. If you own a Samsung Blackjack, I highly suggest you bookmark this site.

I haven't been able to get the ActiveSync service to show on the Blackjack as an option trying to sync with Bluetooth. All that shows after pairing is Serial, Headphones and Headset.

From that Samsung Blackack site, I don't see where ActiveSync/WMDC via Bluetooth is even supported on the Blackjack. Am I mistaken?

They don't mention anything about a WinMo6 upgrade - anyone hear anything yet?

There is no ActiveSync service in BT. If you start ActiveSync connection in ActiveSync use connection via BT menu command, it will rename serial port service to ActiveSync service for you. Your best bet, however, don't pre-pair your phone with your PC and let the above command do it for you.

If you're using release version of WMDC and Microsoft Vista BT stack, ActiveSync via BT is easier than you thought. Basically, you don't need to do anything on your PC side.

We haven't heard any news on this so far. I'm hoping that we get word one way or the other soon.

Default ActiveSync hangs while examining "changes...

Just got my BlackJack two days ago. Having a bit of trouble syncing. At first, I couldn't get past "retrieving settings...", but finally determined, after trying every application/port rule I could find for my Sygate firewall, the only way past this was to stop the Sygate service.

With that problem solved, ActiveSync moves on to examining changes, but hangs on that. I can see the file structure in Explorer, but that's it. I've tried deleting the partnership, re-installing, etc. but can't get anywhere.

I've been Googling all day (which led me to this forum...) but can find nothing significant. With all the ports effectively open, I don't know how else to troubleshoot. Does anyone have a clue, or can anyone point me to a FAQ or blog or other link that would help?

Start by turning off your firewall and seeing if you can get a connection going 100%. Then once it's working turn the firewall back on.
