Orange SPV C550 in Orange Magazine

"Popped into my local Orange retail store yesterday and picked up a copy of the June magazine and found the C550 is now listed as 'coming soon'. The manager there said they were expecting stock in early July and to keep popping back around then for a better date. There's nothing on the Orange website yet but according to the mag (sorry for the blurry photo but my eyes are seeing it like that at the moment too!), the C550 is shorter that the C500 but about 4mm thicker and 10g heavier. Battery life is also said to be reduced a little by 1 hour talk time, and 0.3 days standby time over the C500."



I found a better image over on Modaco. It's hard to imagine that this phone is smaller than the C500. The reduction in talk time if true is not a good thing though. I'd like to mention to the manufacturers of phones that they don't have to get so small that we can swallow them ok? It's nice to have more than 20 minutes of talk time!

Hmmm, not so good news about the battery life (the price of the QVGA screen I guess), but I still want one. 8)

That's what I was thinking. It has to be the screen, since all the other specs are pretty much unchanged. :? I think it's worth the lost battery life, but I can see how others might not like it.

If the quote above is right, and it's just 1 hour of talk time lost, then you'll still have more than enough. The C500/SMT5600 is a dream for battery life. you could drop an hour and not even notice.

that is what I thought... Well, I'm going to wait until this gets out (rather than getting the SMT5600) as I just can't justify buying the 5600. Not that it is a bad phone - just that if there is something better right around the corner...

I just hope that Expansys isn't going to be the only place to get this phone (they are way overpriced)

I think the player buttons are a waste of real estate though.
