Default More Info On The Samsung i640

http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/samsung_2004/index.php?p=i645

"the i640 / i645 runs Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphone 2nd Edition. This is the most recent version of the platform at the moment - one version newer than the Windows Mobile 2003 that ships in new i600s. The i640 / i645 also features dual color displays. What wasn't known until now is that the i640 / i645 will include EV-DO high-speed data."

PhoneScoop has a bunch of photos on the i640/i645 that we told you about just a couple days ago. Here's some more of the specs: 32 MB, SDIO, speaker-independent voice dialing (??), no Bluetooth, but it Will have infrared. The i640 will be the camera-less model, while the i645 gets a 1MegaPixel camera with LED flash. There is no word on when this phone will launch, but my guess is that we will see it before the end of the year.

Looks much better than the FCC photos.

Looks like the thumbpad will block the joypad? But cool. The attachment that I want for my Smartphone. (I liked the Sony Ericsson T68i thumbpad a lot.)

That's the same way HP did the keyboard for the iPAQ 4100's. :?

"speaker-independent voice dialing" just means you don't have to train it according to your own voice. My i600 has this too.

Ah... Thansk Captain. For some reason, I was thinking too hard on that one. That makes sense.

Yeah I have to admit, it looks much better here. I don't think I will ever buy another phone without Bluetooth though.

EV-DO? Nifty. $600 for the phone, ... $80/mo for data. 8O

The $80/mo for data is kinda steep. I use T-mobile Hotspot for $20/mo and I can get to a spot so easily now, Starbucks, Airports etc. I haven't clocked the data rates but it is quite adequate.

$80 is steep, but imagine getting WiFi speeds everywhere!

(I'm still stuck on the $80, personally)
