Microsoft's third quarter earnings are out. The company's two largest revenue generators - the Windows and the Office software segments performed as expected, but because of its focus on the gaming industry and the on-going search engine wars, the company suffered some setbacks because of high cost of operation. The good news is that Mobile and Embedded Devices division has been having good quarter after quarter. In this quarter the division reported $89 million in revenue compared to $61 million a year ago. The operating income is in red at $14 million dollars, in spite of the Windows Mobile revenue being up 52% this quarter compared to the same last year.

Great job MED! 4 straight quarters of growth shows that the market is interested in what Microsoft has to offer in the mobile arena. Of course, that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone here.

it's good to see they are getting even stronger, which should give them the leverage with upper management to add more resources to the division, which means stronger mobile and embedded offerings - which is all good.
