Default MediaQ Companion Chip Enhances Multimedia Performance on MiT

http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=SVBIZINK3.story&STORY=/www/story/07-22-2003/0001986417&EDATE=TUE+Jul+22+200

"MediaQ, Inc. today announced that the MQ1188(TM) Multimedia Platform Controller is a key system component in the new Windows(R) Powered Mio 8380 Smartphone from MiTAC International Corp. The MiTAC Mio 8380 Smartphone integrates Internet access, audiovisual media playback, digital camera, personal information management, and e-mail into a mobile phone with a large high-resolution color screen.

The high-performance, low-power MQ1188 controller handles all multimedia and screen display functions on the Mio 8380, enhancing the mobile users' experience with both digital lifestyle and mobile commerce applications. MQ1188 controls the high-resolution (176x220) 64k-color (16 bit-per-pixel) 2.2" transflective TFT-LCD screen, which is large enough for browsing photographs or watching videos. A powerful built-in video processing and scaling engine enables video playback, providing clear, realistic image quality for the best possible viewing experience.

Acting as a companion chip to the Intel(R) XScale-200MHz CPU, the MediaQ MQ1188 controller helps reduce overall system power consumption and extend battery life. MQ1188 features a 64-bit wide internal bus to on-chip embedded memory for scalable bandwidth of up to 528MB/sec. This memory provides storage for frame buffers and video buffers, eliminating the need to use energy-consuming system memory."

Ok, I want one of these even more badly now. 8O
