Default i-mate To Offer Fonix Voice Dial on Devices

http://www.wirelessdevnet.com/news/2005/aug/15/news1.html

"The Fonix Speech Group, an operating division of Fonix(R) Corp., today announces an agreement with i-mate(TM), the specialists in Microsoft(R) Windows Mobile(TM) device solutions and supportive applications. i-mate(TM) will offer Fonix speech-activated dialing solutions, Fonix VoiceDial(TM) and Fonix VoiceCentral(TM), as downloadable software packages at http://forums.thoughtsmedia.com/www.clubimate.com -- the i-mate(TM) device-owner dedicated Web site -- and as bundled software packages to corporate accounts. Fonix receives unit royalty fees from i-mate(TM) for each download or bundled package sold. "This agreement with Fonix furthers i-mate's strategy to meet our customers' needs in providing them with state-of-the-art technology solutions," said Michael Cavey, general manager of content at i-mate."

There's no mention of when Fonix will be made available to existing i-mate customers, or when they will begin to pre-load it on devices. I know some of you have used Fonix and have been really impressed by it. So, I can only see this as good news for an i-mate owner.

I tried Fonix. After I installed it the ability for my smt5600 to play mp3 ringtones vanished. I had to do a hard reset.

I hope they fix that.
