HTC "Faraday" set to Replace SMT5600 in Late October
"Always take a grain of salt--or better yet, a shaker's worth--with reported release dates for converged devices. They are almost always wrong. Converged devices have a bad tendancy to slip, sometimes months past their original planned release. But it's rumored that internal Cingular documentation, leaked onto the net, proves that the HTC Wizard will be released on the Cingular network on October 24th, replacing the aging HTC Blue Angel, a.k.a. the SX66. The alleged document also lists another HTC device, code-named "Faraday," which is listed as replacing the SMT5600 Windows Smartphone on October 21st."I wonder what this "Faraday" device will be like? The codename for the new Qtek devices was Tornado, so it's not referring to those devices. If the codename is any indication, we could be looking at a device that's packed full of power and possible the best battery life of any HTC product to date. Of course, this is just a guess. ( Michael Faraday was an advocate for the law of conservation of energy.) Anyone else care to speculate on what this device will be like?

Could it be the QTek 8300 and 8310 are 'faraday' and 'tornado' respectively? Maybe that's the difference (other than the keyboard layout)?

Tornado is the device "class". Similar to the Typhoon and Hurricane.
There are a number of devices that are "mis-named" by Cingular internally. It keeps things a little more secretive...

Now we Cingular users have some stuff to look forward too.

So, you're saying that Faraday is a Cingular code name and not an HTC name. Makes sense. So this could be one of the new Qtek devices we are seeing. That would be nice.

Alright.... So if you couldn't say anything about the WiFi part of this phone, what would that be?

Us T-Mobile users will be quite satisfied with buying any nice Cingular devices unlocked on ebay. ;-)
