Default BT Office Anywhere for the HTC S620 Smartphone

http://www.btbroadbandoffice.com/mobile/office-anywhere

"BT's Office Anywhere brings you a big advance in multifunctional technology. With your pocket-sized Office Anywhere handset you can work as effectively when you're out and about as you can at your desk. The Office Anywhere handset - a Windows Mobile Smartphone, works like a normal mobile phone and gives you access to your e-mail, calendar and contacts when you are out and about. The HTC S620 Office Anywhere handset is currently provided free of charge with any of the Office Anywhere packages."

Since I use an MS Exchange service, the BT Office Anywhere isn't for me but I can see its appeal. It has VoIP technology and it comes with a free HTC 620 (Excalibur, Dash) Windows Mobile Smartphone. If you decide to use the service, let us know what you think!

Default Typical BT offering

This is a typical offering from BT (I am an ex BT "Mobile Champion") It's old and late in the UK market. The only interesting feature of this is the VOIP client pre installed. Other mobile operators here are rather scared of Mobile VOIP as it will decrease their voice revenue. If you look at the costs of a subscription to BT Openzone you'll see just how expensive this can be. I have yet to hear about anyone using this system in practice.

There is a Scype for Pocket PC but you generally need to overclock your device to get any quality of call. I will be amazed if BT have managed to get any kind of VOIP call quality going on the 620. If you are in the UK and buy this for the VOIP you will be paying entirely too much for your voice and data for the next 2 years anyway and would be better off getting a cheaper gsm voice tariff.

BT customer support for technology issues is legendary for the wrong reasons. If you live in the UK and want to use Windows Mobile technology the only people who can provide you with any decent service and support are accredited O2 Information Technology Partners. Nobody else get close.
