Default Audiovox SMT5600 - Now Free with Rebates

http://www.edealinfo.com/cgi-bin/dl?2005/06/24/063.shtml

If you've been holding off on buying a Smartphone, this deal might be what you've been waiting for! You can pickup a new Audiovox SMT5600 for free when you sign up for a 2 year Cingular plan. This eDealInfo.com web page has both of the rebate forms listed, and steps you through the purchase.

Now, to be honest, it's not really free. The total comes out to being -$0.01. There is also a third rebate, which makes the total -$11.25, but that one expired yesterday. Don't worry, it's still a great deal at a penny!

Default notorious InPhonic @ Buy.com

Yes, this is via the notorious InPhonic @ Buy.com.

For some of the hundreds of horror stories about this place, see the list on CNET forums:

http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7817-0....sageID=1266594

and the lowest possible rating at Epinions:

Also, FYI, ordering through Amazon will NOT permit you to keep your existing # (I'm an original AT&T customer). I gave up on all of this and ordered through Cingular on Saturday, and got another $50 credit applied by a manager when I told him my Amazon story.

FYI...

Wow thanks for the heads up. Just goes to show that when chasing internet deals it's always "Buyer Beware".

Default Bogus rebates

I just bought the SMT5600 and love it, but thankfully I DID read all the fine print on the rebates and discovered that my cell phone bill would be more than DOUBLE what it is now in order to qualify for the rebates, which require that you sign up for big plans with unlimited data which basically means that you're using your cell phone as an internet service provider, and most of us already have these at home and work. I opted for a data plan that give me enough transfer to check e-mail and send a ton of sms and mms. I paid full price ($250) for the phone, signing up for a two year service plan with Cingular. LOVE the phone

Default Screw current subscribers AGAIN!!!

<rant>
When are the various providers going to realize the Number Portability Act means they need to change device pricing to encourage customer loyalty? Why do they offer such deep discounts to new customers, but do nothing to reward those customers who have been with the service for longer than the original contract?

Why, I ask you. Why?

Add me to the long list of Inphonic.com/Wirefly.com extremely PO potential customer. I ordered two STM5600 phones to be Fed-Ex over night to me back in Feb 2005, the phones never arrived!

2 weeks later, even with order confirmation number & charged receipt from my credit card, the idiot customer service could not resolve this problem. Turned out that they never had inventory of this phone at the time. I ended up purchasing the SMT5600 via ebay. Works out for the best.

Definitely buyer beware with this online trickster!
