APRIL FOOLS: Nokia Announces Plans for Windows Mobile Version of the E61 Smartphone
"The Nokia E61w is designed in the familiar style of today's most popular mobile email devices. Yet it is incredibly slim and packed with powerful new functionality. A cinch to use with either hand, the device has a four-way joystick and full keyboard combined with a wide 16 million color screen making mobile email easier than ever before. The E61w will support Outlook Mobile, Office Mobile, Mobile Internet Explorer, along with seamless and encrypted mobile connectivity using Windows Mobile 6 Standard." Wow, I don't know how we missed this news in all the other announcements that came out of CTIA last week. It appears Nokia has taken the popular E61 and are turning out a Windows Mobile version of it. Sounds very similiar to what Palm did with the Treo line of phones. It will be interesting to see what traction a device like this would have in the enterprise. Can Nokia actually offer a better Smartphone than the BlackJack, Q, or Dash?

If this survives till tomorrow, I think it would be awesome (the E61 is a pretty nice device), but alas I fear it won't :P

In other news Microsoft agrees to let their hardware manufactures make a Symbian version of all their current models.

Wow! 8O
I heard Nokia is also working on mobile virtualization tech, so that enterprises can choose the OS they like. If they like Palm, Palm it is. If they like Windows Mobile, they can use Windows Mobile.

Hmmmmm, I heard Steve Jobs is dropping OS X due to operational management problems and has begged Billy for a job. I heard they're collaborating on the new "Window Phone." Their slogan is "We Look Into an Unselfish World as We Take the "I" out of phone."

Hardware wise, it's not bad. I found the keyboard was very soft and mushy. Software wise, it sucks. I spent 3 or so hours setting up Exchange on the crazy thing. It was a huge pain.
