Another Push Email Solution, This One is for Smartner and Orange

In case you haven't figured it out, push email is the holy grail of the mobile world, and the operators know this. We've seen a number of different solutions for push email. From the standard Exchange server setup to the newIntellisync support for the Audiovox SMT5600, RIM support for the MPx220 (if it ever gets released), and Good was working with someone, but I can't recall who.

I have yet to use a push system. Right now, I pull all my emails. It's not bad, but it tends to be really slow. So here's my question to all of you; Are you a Pusher? or Puller? If you're getting all your emails pushed, tell us what system you're using and how you like it.

I would love to push, and hopefully I can someday (we have the BES at work, I think that's what it's called).
But if my email problems keep up, it may be a moot point.

I am trying out the Cingular's XPressMail Push technology for MPx220. Since I am with T-Mobile, not sure if it is working for me.

I am able to do the traditional pull sync to get to my corporate/desktop mail via Cingular's XPressMail. But the push is not working. :?

Since it is supposed to be SMS driven, I am guessing the fact that a T-Mobile user is using Cingular mail wireless sync service is not working.

Anyone have any luck with the Cingular XPressMail? I should start a thread on this one.

I sync with an exchange server. I've never tried the push to see if it would even work. I'd rather just get it when I feel like looking

I have Cingular, i might try that xpressmail, but finish got to figure out what this push technology is. I want to Sync my hotmail emails with my phone. Ether with Bluetooth or Irda infra-red,

Push technology is what RIM Blackberry's use. Basically, the email is pushed down to the device. You don't have to initiate anything on the device, it automatically arrives.

Pull, on the other hand requires the device to initiate the sync. So it must wake up and connect to the server, then download any new email. Typically this is done on some schedule. Like every 5, 10, or 15 minutes.

Out of the box the Smartphones do not provide any means to sync Hotmail mails. :-(

But I believe there are solutions that enable you to access Hotmail via POP3 or IMAP. This way you can configure your Smartphone to point to the POP3/IMAP server, which in turn talks to the Hotmail, using Hotmail's (WebDAV) protocol.

Oh! There is an app called Pocket MSN, that supposedly lets you fetch Hotmail onto your phone, but very few have managed to install it. Plus its not free I believe.

I dont think Pocket MSN even works yet. When I go to the web page on my phone I get to a "Coming Soon" page.
