Default 90% Of Mobile Devices Lack Protection

http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/040326/265110_1.html

"Mobile users are implementing more wireless technologies in their daily lives, but many users are not taking the proper precautions to ensure they're working in a secure environment. Approximately 90 percent of mobile devices lack the protection to ward off hackers, according to Gartner, Inc. ... Gartner analysts identified the top "on-the-run" security exposure experienced by Gartner clients. The most commonplace scenario occurs when a user accidentally loses his or her mobile device -- full of confidential enterprise data -- which leads to a serious case of identity theft. "

They couldn't have announced this at a better time. With identity theft on the rise and the increased security post 9/11, we should all be more vigilant at securing our devices. I used to password protect my iPAQ, and Smartphone, but I have disabled them in recent months. I found it was just too awkward sometimes. However I have always password protected my laptop. In light of this article I think I might turn them back on. What do you think?
