"This is the Smartphone version of the hard reset desktop utility I posted days back. Purpose: hard reset Smartphone using 1 button click. File is independent of Clear Storage utility which comes only to Orange handsets. A hard reset process will revert Smartphone settings back to factory default. All informations stored on the phone’s internal memory (\Storage) will be erased. To cite few examples…System settings, Inbox messages, phonebook entries, homescreens, programs installed, registry keys/ tweaks, etc. You may need to backup contacts and other important files before a doing a hard reset. A network-unlocked phone (openline) will remain network-unlocked after a hard reset. An application-unlocked phone will not retain its unlocked/ decertified state though."

My "only once" vote was when I upgraded firmware on the Q, but I was about ready to do it anyway since it was acting a little sluggish. Also, do you count the times where you were going to reset, but you wound up just getting a new phone instead?

I answered never. I just started using the BlackJack a couple weeks ago, and I never reset the i320 that I was using before either. :mrgreen: Now, let's not talk about the SP5m that I had prior to that.

Not even once yet. Considering the enormous functionality these devices/OS offer, I'd say they're pretty solid (Windows XP included).

A hard reset is really no big deal for me. All my contacts are sync'ed in Outlook. The applications I use I keep handy in a folder on my laptop along with activation codes etc. Any files I have are on the micro SD.

So I just sync to get contacts back. Reinstall my apps from within ActiveSync add remove programs and re-ativate the apps. Install my home screen and that's it. I just do a few tweaks and I'm done. 15 minutes max.

Well worth the effort when things start to get sluggish or gremlins start poping up.

Impressive...I too am able to get operational in 15 minutes, but thanks to Sprite Backup and the fact that the Outlook info is on the Exchange server.

Wish I was that lucky, I did have to reset Dash (because of some weird home screen plugin issue, I guess I was playing with too many plugins) once. :-(

But I am very impressed, the Windows Mobile phones are becoming progressively better and better. I remember SP3i had to be hard reset almost every month. Powered off every day or three. 2125 got a lot better. Occassional power off and occassional hard reset.

Dash is stable. I go for days without power off. It sounds kind of crazy talking about this, this should have been the case from the begining; but can understand that since these devices do so much, as T-Will mentioned, it is bound to break down once in a while.

The problem with these things is a good part of the time, you can't get to your software to run this utility. 90% of the hard resets I have done had to be done with the buttons on the device.

Really? I haven't had to do a button hard reset in a while now. I wouldn't even know how on the BlackJack.
