Default Personal ring tones

My upgrade from the original to the spv e2000 has been great - the feature where you can assign pictures from the camera to someones call is wonderful - makes it so easy to know whos phoning at a glance

but it still doesnt allow me to assign differnet ring tones to different people
- my ancient nokia did that !

so

am i being stupid ops: (and ive missed something)

or has someone written a bit of software that works for ringtones like the one for pictures

Custom ring tones is built in. It's easy to do, just find the contact in question, edit it, and scroll down to "Custom Ring Tones".

Interesting... My guess is that this is different for each phone. I think it would depend on the frequency range of the speaker the manufacturer used. So you may notice different ranges from different phones. I think it's something you're going to have to test out. My only other thought is that there may be some mention of this in the manual or specifications on the manufacturers web site. But that's a long shot.
