LapLink Looks to Solve Your Sync Problems with PDASync

Just when you thought you would never ever see a good sync product for your Windows Mobile device, in comes LapLink. Microsoft has been slow to release updates and the ones they have released are not very good at fixing the problems. I'm pleased to see that some developers are noticing this and working at a solution for us. I am going to give this product a try and if it works any better than WMDC or AS, then I'll be buying a copy. It's too bad that things have gotten this bad that we have to look at outside solutions to sysnc between Microsoft products and on top of that, pay for the ability to sync. But I'm so sick of the pains with WMDC that I'm willing to do it. Anyone else going to give it a try? You can download a trial version from the LapLink web site.

If I had to sync more often, I'd probably try this...but hey, at least SOMEONE is creating a sync solution! I wonder how good it is?

any solution that does not sync real time over IP is no solution.
I should never have to connect my device to a pc when i could just say hey i'm on the net sync now.

Umm...WMDC doesn't do that today, although Bluetooth sync is passable. But real time? You're talking about, what, push sync? You'll get that with Exchange sync, but it doesn't help installing programs and synchronizing documents and whatnot.
I guess the question is what do you consider to be the best solution today? |

there is no "best" solution today is the issue.
I have a whole problem with having to plug in a usb cable or say connect if i'm within 10 feet of something when i already have an internet connection on both devices.
exchange sync is not the solution i want because it gives admin control to whipe my phone when its my phone. I use it but that's only because i'm the one who set it up.
I want a mix of xpressmail type, that does not require a constant running outlook client, a windows service would be much better.
I want it to sync documents, onenote, and exchange data over the internet.
I want to be ablke to use the visual studio 2005 tools and sdks over the internet communication with my device, not USB plugged in.
I should be able to sync my music over the internet, not USB using windows media player.
This is the age of the internet.

Ok, so what you want doesn't exist then. That clarifies things a bit. ;-)
I agree that what you want is ideal, but to call this "no solution at all" seems unfairly harsh - anything that's better than ActiveSync/WMDC is a good step...
