Gentimer - WAV files on the Dash

Gentimer is a great piece of software for alarms and timers. But since the Dash doesn't have the latest version of Windows Media, Gentimer will only play WAV files on the Dash. I tried converting MP3 files to WAV format and putting them in the Gentimer folder. They played but were very distorted. Has anyone else converted MP3 to WAV for Gentimer to use and if so, what settings did you use for the conversion? I'm sure that's where my problem lies.

I wonder what would happen if you installed TCMP (is that what it's called now?) If Gentimer just tells the system to play a wav, then this might help because the system would just hand that off to the default music player. If the app calls WMP directly, then there's no hope.
