Default Enforce Security On Smartphones With iAnywhere's XcelleNet Afaria

http://www.xcellenet.com/PressReleaseItem.aspx?ID=70

"XcelleNet Afaria Security Manager for Smartphones is the first enterprise solution to provide the centrally managed, policy-based security solution required by enterprises. From the same administrative console that delivers management capabilities, enterprises can define, deploy, and enforce security policies that control the following: User authentication through enforced power-on passwords, Data encryption on the device and on removable storage cards, Device and data lockdown – and data wipe – in the event of loss or theft. Policies can be targeted at user groups or groups of devices allowing appropriate levels of security to be set for different user populations where necessary."

Wow, talk about power. This looks like it could easily become a must have for any enterprise with mobile devices. I would love to have this level of security on my devices. Sadly, I'm sure the price is such that only the enterprise can afford it.

FWIW, we use Afaria's Win32 client to do all of the remote scripting/updates in our 2,500+ retail stores. That's 2,500+ Win2k Pro boxes and over 10,000+ Win98 boxes. It's a very sweet product!
