http://www.smartphone.net/smartphonethoughts/software_detail.asp?id=665

"Cell Doom 1.5 contains many improvements as well as new features such as custom WAD file support and screen orientation selection. Cell Doom is based on the GNU GPL source. It is completely FREE with the source included. Installation is easy, full instructions are in the ReadMe file. To help further development of Cell Doom as well as development of other games with freely available source code (Wolfenstein 3D, Heretic, Descent) , you may choose to donate $5."

A staple to the gaming world, Doom, has now been ported to Windows Mobile-based Smartphones. This game supports both 2002 and 2003 devices. Cell Doom has over 160 downloads in the short time it has been available. Have any of you given it a try yet?

And HOW LONG has DoomSPV already been out for? Oh yeah... since the SPV came out. And DoomSPV has always worked on all WM smartphones... use to have it on my old i600.

Yes, DOOMspv was the first DOOM for the Smartphone platform.

But, I have an i600, and the original DOOMspv was extremely slow - like 10-20 times slower (espectially when starting/loading) and was thus unplayable. It also believe it didn't have sound and couldn't save/load games.

This doom is very fast and playable - and ALL functions appear to work as expected.

It even works with Doom II custom wads.

I have the same problem when trying to run the original doom 1 wad - but doom 2 wads run fine with v1.5.

Thanks, you're right... I just tried doom2 wad and it's fine.
Do you happen to have the 1.3 version of cell doom still?

Version 1.5 is the only/first version I installed.

But, I sent an email to the developer about the doom1.wad problem.

I also asked the developer if he will have support for contrast (gamma) because it is kinda hard to see details on the screen of my i600 which normally has a very sharp display in other apps.

Hey, can you guys send me a link to where you got the Doom 2 WAD File to make this version work? I'm getting the same message that the WAD file doesn't exist when I try to run this game. Where did you guys get your files from? I would LOVE to run this gave on my I-Mate Smartphone!

If you contact the developer, he provided me a new version that fixes the bug of not working with doom 1 wads.
