Default ZDNet Reviews i-mate SP3i

http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/mobilephones/0,39023920,39192959,00.htm

"Like the i-mate SP3 (Orange SPV C500), the SP3i is a small, neat and light smartphone. Most pockets should absorb its 44.5mm by 107.5mm by 18mm dimensions and 102g weight easily enough. The hardware design is distinctive, with two-tone black and silver for the front, and a stripe of grey adorning the otherwise black rear. The screen is not touch-sensitive, so user input is via buttons. The number pad is very small indeed -- the outer two columns of keys are the smallest at just 11mm wide and 5mm tall. The inner column’s keys have 14mm of width and the same height. The keys are bevelled to make them easier to find and hit correctly, but the stubby-fingered may find it a challenge to tap out numbers or text."

I wonder when i-mate will release the pricing and dealership information for the US version of this cool looking Smartphone. :?

I want this phone to just go away so I can be at peace with my MPx220!

I really like this Smartphone, it would have been my choice if it could be had for under $200 like my smt5600 =)

I love this phone. It rocks.

Except for the serious joystick flaw that has been reported many times.

This wouldn't normally bother me so much, but in order to get it fixed, I have to send mine to Dubai! For about a month!

EEEK!

Let's just hope I-Mate will set up a local (US) repair facility soon. It has already been reported that I-Mate will be opening up a US office.

But when...who knows?

Yea, there is a definite shortage of flip Smartphones on the market. I wonder why that is? Everyone seems to be focusing on the candy bar design. I guess with time, we'll see a more mature Smartphone landscape. :?

Are there any, apart from the PDA2K? I'd say we'll start to see more flips and sliders - sliders look great for QWERTY keyboards, and flips can accomodate bigger screens. Makes you think why the MPX220 has a smaller screen than the SMT-5600.

I guess we could consider the Voq to be a flip phone...

Sliders would be cool too. There have been a couple promising designs here and there, but we have yet to see anything get released.
