Testing the Spectec MiniSD Wifi Card
Does anyone remember that miniSD WiFi card we told you about a while back? Well, a lucky reader over at Dave's iPAQ was able to get his hands on one, and test it on the new HP hw6500 Pocket PC Phone Edition device. The card appears to work great, without any problems. It is currently not available for purchase, although it should not be too much longer. I guess I'll need to upgrade my Smartphone or start cutting away at the inside so that this card can fit. Why, oh why, does it have to be just a little longer?

An antenna, for range? If you completely embed it in the phone, expect awful reception.

Ya, I expect it's the antenna, but the added length prevents it from fitting inside the SMT5600. It could work on the MPx220, but will stick out a little. I don't have the MPx220. So I WANT one that isn't any longer. I know, I know, I want it all.

Does the miniSD WiFi card come with addition memory? It seems pointless to have WiFi on my mpx220 without having enough RAM to store webpages.
An "adequite" device would be a miniSD WiFi card with built in 256 MB RAM. The ideal card would have 512MB or greater.
Right now most if not all my applications are on my miniSD card, so swapping the miniSD RAM for a miniSD wireless would not be a good trade-off.

If the carriers weren't so terrified of WiFi cutting into their gouging us for data we would have seen it built in long ago. Also anything that has to stick out of a phone will eventually be snapped off I think or in the case of the MPx220 a slight press and it will be ejected out never to be seen again.
