Sounds to me like you're just using IMAP or POP3 in Outlook Mobile. Try setting things up in ActiveSync.
I will check on the Samsung i320 again to make sure. However, I recall looking at the Active Sync settings on the phone and they are "pointing" to the right server information. (Why do I believe this? Active Sync is fine with downloading email, calendar and tasks from the Exchange Server- as in the emails are showing up in the Outlook folder of messages and not the Pop folder. Since you can only choose one email account, as in desktop vs. exchange, I am choosing the Exchange's email.)

As an aside, when I test out with my Dopon 838 Pro/Hermes, and turn on the Direct Push function via the Dopod specific software, my Exchange emails get pushed to the Dopod device. I assume therefore I have my settings on the Exchange side working and need to work on the phone settings to make this happen.

All very strange but I will keep plugging away.

The Direct Push Feature is definitely not working as smoothly on this phone as my HTC Hermes (where I have the Direct Push button as an obvious switch on/off button). I still cannot get it up and running.

I know that on the Exchange Server side, the settings are correct, as I can receive push emails on my Hermes.

But when I try on the Samsung (and set up the Exchange Server settings in Active Sync), nothing happens.

I still wonder if there is anything I need to activate besides going into the phone/Active sync on my PC to set up the Exchange Server sync with the email inbox being synced from the Exchange Server.

There just seems like I am missing a step somewhere......

Anyone who got this to work can share some advice on what to do on the phone end of the setup?

I am not speaking from experience, as I am not using MS Mobile 5 (yet) . But just in case, is your sync schedule set to "As new items arrive" in ActiveSync on your device?

Refer to "Configuring Direct Push on the client" in this article...

You are a savior! That was the one thing that I was missing. Thank you for taking the effort to sift through the thread.

Wow! I am all set up now with the Samsung i320N!

Nice review Mike!
Just when I thought my TyTN and 3125 would hold me for awhile. Ohhhh the agony!

I think I'm leaning towards the BlackJack though.

Thanks. 8)

The BlackJack is a great device - especially if you're living in North America and need the improved reception that Quad band offers.
