If this article is "old news" to you, then you aren't a member of the intended target audience. This article is for PDA diehards who haven't taken a serious look at Smartphones in the past, but are doing so now based on the declining market for traditional PDAs and the higher profile and explosive growth in the Smartphone market. They're recognizing the fact that a Smartphone might be in their future and they want to learn more about them and how they compare to their current devices.

Since 5 years ago, device and OS design has advanced dramatically. The folks toward whom this article is targeted want information on the current state of the marketplace. They aren't interested in the ancient history of 5 years ago.

The feedback that I've gotten about this article has been nearly 100% positive, which indicates that it hits the intended target audience directly. If to hit that target audience, I have to bore a few Smartphone veterans, that's a consequence that I'll gladly live with.

I've been using the blackjack since last september and still love it. I agree, the lack of voice dialing was a bit frustrating. Built in WiFi would have been a welcome addition, especially if you have the slingplayer installed I still use my eTen m600 PPC phone but the phone functionality of it is a nightmare. Tons more processor power though, runs TomTom beautifully. I don't think the BJ could handle that. I've considered looking into the Copilot GPS software which has a version for the Q but it's quite expensive and has no trial version...

I can't remember if I dreamed this or came across it online somewhere but has there been any news about a Blackjack v2.0? I thought I read the new one would be essentially the same device but would have Wifi as well as a second "webcam" on the front which would allow video conferencing over 3G...

Cheers,

DomPaul
