Default HTC Reveals Q1 2007 Lineup

http://www.htc.com/press_room/03-press-070213.htm

"High Tech Computer Corp. (TAIEX: 2498; "HTC"), the world's leading provider of Microsoft Windows Mobile powered devices, today launched three smart devices from its Q1 2007 product portfolio at the 3GSM World Congress Conference and Exhibition. These ground-breaking devices showcase the latest in mobile convergence for both consumer and enterprise audiences and epitomize HTC's commitment to developing innovative, appealing and category-defining form factors and applications."

It feels as though there were more Windows Mobile Standard phones on HTC's roadmap in 2006 than there are this year. Hopefully that changes in the near future or HTC will be spending the rest of the year playing catch-up to other companies such as Toshiba and Lenovo.

I for one hope that with less product introductions they will have better support for their phones.

Another benefit we apparently are already seeing from releasing fewer models is having a complete OS upgrade for the Dash/S620!

Actually, HTC has yet to comment on the s620 getting WinMo6. The Dash is, and that was T-Mobiles doing. That doesn't mean that HTC will do it for their model. I hope they do, but I'm concerned that they haven't confirmed anything yet. :?

Well, I think that the Dash is the only version of the Excalibur that is being resold by a carrier. T-Mobile in Europe has said that they will begin selling the Excalibur (Mail?) later this year.

I am a Dash owner (Cingular service) and so I "win" either way, but I think from a cost standpoint, it would be too costly to maintain an support two OS versions for one product line.

They may not have made an official announcement, but I don't see one model getting it and the others not - officially getting it.

We'll see.

In the meantime, I'm just happy that with months of no word from HTC or T-mobile on fixing the bugs in the phone (which effect me at least 2x a day) there is going to be a change. If the problems still exist after the upgrade, there is always the Vox. ;-)
