HTC Cavalier Now Available From MobilePlanet.com
 HTC's follow-up device to the Excalibur (or T-Mobile Dash) has finally become available for purchase in North America. For $565 (or $640 for those in Canada shopping at Expansys.ca ), you can take home one of the hottest new Smartphones to hit the market. The Cavalier offers a faster CPU wth higher speeds for data access, and of course, Windows Mobile 6. For whatever reason, it still sports a super slow USB1.1 connection.  So, who here is going to buy one? And who already has it?

When this phone was first announced, I thought I would be all over it. Now, I think would rather have an Erato for everyday use and keep my S620 for times when I know I'll want the keyboard. And I have it from a pretty good source that Apple licensed AirSync so the next version of the iPhone will get a look too.

Does it have the North American HSDPA bands? If not, what's the point when the Dash already has WM6?

Can someone connect me to a link that says this phone may actually be coming on the AT&T network?
I'm trying to track down this piece of information since ti doesn't seem logical for an upgrade to an existing phone on one network to be offered on another.

Just like the Excalibur, the Cavalier will probably never be offered by AT&T. However, just like the Excalibur it will work fine on the network. Just slid in your sim card, add the network authentication info and you should be good to go.
FWIW, I live in a 3G area and had a Blackjack for a few weeks. The speeds really rock and the screen is great too. But I just could not adjust to the Samsung keyboard and I went back to my Excalibur. IMO, it is a better phone, despite the lack of 3G. So the Cavalier should be a winner if you like that form factor.

Huh? The Q9 is the upgrade to the Q and that's a GSM version and will be offered on other carriers. Just because it's an upgrade doesn't mean it will only be made available on the existing network. HTC makes the phone and sells it to whoever is interested.
In this case, there has been no indication that it's going to be released on any carrier.

I was only asking the question because I had heard it alluded to that the Cavalier MAY be coming to AT&T. I can't find anything official so was wondering where sites were getting that from.
I do understand it is unlocked because I have an unlocked Dash I am using on AT&T as I write this and I know I can order the upgrade if I so chose.
However, it doesn't make sense to me from a business perspective of having the Dash on T-Mobile while offering the upgrade to the Dash on some other carrier.
It would make sense that T-Mobile would make sure to get the upgrade to keep existing customers by offering them the upgrade and lure in new customers with the Cavalier.
If not, what's to stop people who love their Dash from going to another carrier for the upgrade and the people who would have gone with T-Mobile because they had the phone they wanted? That's why it doesn't make sense that AT&T would get it.
But I could be wrong which is why I am wondering where are they getting their information. What's the source is all I'm asking.
