Default Amazon Offers Rebates on the MPx220

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=smartphonetho-20&path=ASIN%2FB0006I2HN4%2Fqid%25253D1100575882%2Fsr %25253D11-1%2Fref%25253Dsr%25255F11%25255F1

Amazon has started offering rebates on the MPx220. They are offering a $150 rebate when you buy the MPx220 with a 1 year service plan, on or before December 1st. As well, it appears that they have fixed the link allowing you to buy the MPx220 without a contract. I was successful in adding it to my cart, which was more than you could do before. [Affiliate]

Default Amazon MPx220 Deal

I currently have an MPx200 now with AT&T.

Does anyone know how the process works with buying the 220 on Amazon and porting over your old number from AT&T to Cingular??

Really eager to find out what version of firmware is on the Amazon model. The price is tempting. Less than the Best Buy exclusive.

Not sure, but I think there is an option when you work through the plans on Amazon. If not, I'm sure you could call after the purchase and they could port your number then.

I was wondering the same thing. What firmware would we be getting.

Yes, wondering about the firmware version of the phones Amazon is selling myself. $399 with no contract is indeed a nice price.

Latest rumor has an even newer firmare version of 1.30 instead of the 0.342 that was supposed to be the volume fix:

http://www.mpx200.org/index.php?name...&p=27465#27465

This would seem to make sense as the 1.x moniker would seem to indicate a final release version. It has been well documented that the 0.3xx firmware version number would seemingly indicate a non-final version. This is speculation of course but I've seen nothing to indicate otherwise with the problems this phone had at launch.

Perhaps if this is newer firmware version is real the MPx220 might actually be in Cingular stores before Christmas.

Is that the case? $349 price with a contract (not counting rebates) and $399 without contract? Surprised there is not much difference between the two prices. Is the one without a contract unlocked?

What is the Best Buy price? I believe someone wrote that at BB (with contract) it turns out to only cost $50 after rebates, etc. If that's the case, that's cheaper than the $199 at Amazon. How much is Cingular selling it for?

Have the problems in the phone (volume, etc.) been fixed? Anyone actually tried a "fixed" one?

Is there any news on whether T-Mobile will eventually carry this phone? Any other news regarding any smartphones coming to T-Mobile USA?

The MPx220 from Cingular is unlocked regardless of price.

The BB deal was a Thansgiving Day special.
