Default When did X stop meaning close?.....

I dont know if my computer is the only one is the world that does this, but I have noticed recently that something from the Pocket PC world seems to have crept into my computer. Whenever I go to shut down my computer now it tells me that I must close all running Microsoft applications first. I find this odd because I pressed the X button on Outlook or Word, or whatever Microsoft application I was running. I dont remember my computer always doing this and to tell you the truth, I cannot even remember when it started. Does anyone else have a computer that does not close Microsoft applications even though they press the X button? The application appear to be closed but apparently they are running somewhere hidden in memory and the computer will not let me shut down untill I say yes they can be closed. Weird.....

Make sure you remove your PPC from the cradle before closing Outlook otherwise ActiveSync will keep it open but hidden
