You've missed out one crucial detail - it only works if the owner of the phone gives permission... which can be revoked at any time. True - you could hide a mobile in someone's car - but in order to hide it thoroughly you would need to place it somewhere where the signal would be too muffled. Plus - if you were found to be 'spying' on someone without permission you would soon be doing prison time!

Noted, but from a 'work' perspective people may not be given the choice; and from a permission perspective, once a phone is authorised, the owner may not be aware... I don't think it asks each time you perform a search, although I'm not sure...

Nothing new here. In portugal a lot of companies track where their vehicles are with GSM. Since they baegan doing it worker mileage dropped like a rock. Get the drift?

Then we have premium services on cellphones that with $0,25 locate any of your friends. They have to give permission first. This would track them and you could receive a message stating that they're nearby. Or you can locate it on demand. This is working for almost a year know.
