Verizon 911 Calls May Experience Interruptions

"Some U.S. subscribers dialing 911 for emergency services on their mobile phones could find that their call is interrupted several times due to a recently discovered glitch in a new technology meant to pinpoint the caller's location, Verizon Wireless said on Wednesday. The interruption is a side effect of technology Verizon uses to tell police and other emergency personnel a caller's location so that help can be dispatched as soon as possible, according to Verizon spokesman Jeffrey Nelson, who said the company is fixing the problem."

The problem could produce as many as sixteen two-second interruptions at the beginning of the call. This appears to be an issue with just the Qualcomm mobile phones. If you are calling 911 and happen to experience this, don't worry your call is still connected. They are just looking to see exactly where you are. :wink:

I have had to call 911 twice from my verizon cell phone in the past 3 months both times the phone went into emergency mode and had no problems.
