Default SLixPC and Shuttle

So does anyone have any experience with Creativ's SLix PC's? How do they compare to the Shuttle systems? Speaking of, any major complaints with the Shuttles?

Looking at the pics and the specs, I'd say that the Slix is probably a rebadged Shuttle...

The only major complaints I've heard about the Shuttles is noise level. Looks like they've attempted to address this in two different ways recently. The first via "Silent X", and the second by having an external power supply. Interesting, but I'd like to see that Zen model with an nforce chipset...

Noise level?

I got a miniShuttle for my GF last year and that thing is QUIET!! You don't even know it's on.

It's a little loud if the fan's on, but that's really rare even. It only turns the fan on if the heatpipe's not able to disperse the heat from the CPU fast enough..

Apart from that, I love it. Takes up practically no room, super quiet, and it looks nice too! heh

Depends what you're using it for I guess.

I have two shuttle systems in my home and neither makes a peep ever. Maybe your CPU is just too fast?

I have an SB65G2 and it is indeed damn noisy. I've never heard a quiet Shuttle yet...

As much as I like Shuttles, I seem to constantly have problems with them. My first Shuttle (SS51G) had a defective front Firewire port, and was mysteriously incompatible with my Pioneer A04 DVD burner. My second SS51G had another issue that got it sent back (can't remember what the glitch was). My first SB65G2 was completely DOA, and my second one has "quirky" audio - all MP3/WMA files have bursts of static in them, and I've confirmed that it's not a flaw in the file - I switched over to an external Soundblaster Extigy 2 and the audio issues went away...for me, "Shuttle" and "Quality Control" don't seem to go together.
