Default Ok, fess up: Do you like "Old Yeller"?

What is it with this movie? It seems to be my husband's favorite movie and I have NEVER EVER seen him cry except for a lonely tear that runs down his cheek when watching Old Yeller. Everyone I know seems to either love it and cry when they see it or hate it BECAUSE they cry when they see it.

I have seen it and I found it was so eerily fake I thought it was just boring.
Then again, I think it's a North American thing, so I just don't get it.

K.

Hey Karina

I survived the busy August, and am lovin my A716 pclove:

Old Yeller...it's an old N.A. thing, I think. Might also be age related. I remember seeing it as a kid, and it really struck me. That may be most of it...

Having seen it in another time, when it didn't seem contrived or overdone, one forms a psychological reaction that lasts through time. Plus the American Kid and Dog and Depression era thing...but the worst part, that would make me cry, even today, if I had to watch it... no Pocket PC's.
Poor little bugger, after all that, not even a handheld to get online with and read a dog bereavement forum. :rotfl:

Hi there!

So is your daugther married yet? Everything all right I hope!!!
Yeah, I had another discussion with my husband about Old Yeller last night, it must definitively be burried in his childhood, can't touch that movie, or else.
