Default Ohh and Ahh Over These Concept Designs

http://www.areamobile.de/index.php?pg=static/designstudien.php

I've always been a sucker for concept designs, whether they be cars, phones, or anything else. The sad part about concept designs is that they're usually stylized to the extreme, but what ends up coming to market is a watered-down version that the powers-that-be hope will have more widespread adoption. Me? Give me the extreme!

The site we've linked to above has some amazingly cool concept designs - just click on each company logo to see the images. Maybe the Motorola pictured above is running Smartphone 2006 on it...

Special thanks to Gizmodo for this awesome find!

Either the mechanism is patented (and manufacturers not liking to pay for it), or is the entire PDA/Smartphone world missing out on the cool "slip-n-slide" rotating screen mechanism as seen on the Danger-manufactured T-Mobile Sidekick? I mean, even regular mobile phones such as Motorola uses that ...

I'm terrified of the sliding keypads or the like. It just seems to me to be one more moving part ripe for breaking. Maybe if I played with a tabPC or another modern slide/twist device my opinion would change, but I'm still uncertain the durability of these devices.
