why can't these goons get with the picture and measue battery life in hours like all the PPC manufactures and phone companies/phone manufacturers 0X

What is "normal use anyway? turning the unit on and letting it auto power off once per day per week? Do palms us back up batteries or do you have to worry about a battery induced hard-reset?

Its a ZEN thing, people who adhere to the ZEN of Palm(now PalmOne) are so spiritually balanced that they dont need them gadget, they can get their lives in order by just buying one and charging it once a week.

People who actually use those devices are called poweruserswhoseverelylackinZEN, these poweruserswhoseverelylackinZEN generally use the hardware they buy and they have to content with woefully inadequate batterylifes often far lower then 3 houres of actual use.

PalmOne doesnt like reporting about what they call poweruserswhoseverelylackinZEN since these poweruserswhoseverelylackinZEN generally like to complain about the short battery life of these devices.

If you're talking about the Z31, the battery does actually last pretty long... However the Z72 battery is weak...

That would be so freekin' awsome if you only need to turn it on for entertainment, but to keep you life in order you just had to keep a charge.

Here ya go: The Zire 31 is backed by a 200 MHz Intel ARM processor coupled with 16 MB of RAM (14 MB user-accessible). That's an impressive processor for this price range, although the RAM is about average.

That processor, however, does a number on battery life. In our usual AtomSmash burndown tests with the screen on maximum brightness, the Zire 31 lasted a mere 2 hours 14 minutes before giving its first warning, finally dying after only 2 hours, 38 minutes. Given that palmOne's previous handhelds in this price-range in some cases had double-digit battery life, that is very unfortunate.
