Well, the people that buy the Zire 31 aren't really going to know or care so much about battery specs. They'll read the box, see that it says "1 week battery life" and buy it. That's why PalmOne can get away with that.

If it's any consolation, most people have stopped touting Palms' "weeks" of battery life over comparable Pocket PCs.

Janak my parents have switched from palm to PPC after seeing that my old Phillips nino could do more than their palm units, they both have dell axims, x5 and x3i, my dad has owned two, and he used to be pro palm.

My mom used to have a palm, she hated it, she would rather use a paper day timer than the palm, she had the same attitude to her x5 at first but only 2.5 weeks after she got it she was hooked, though she couldn't understand why she had to use pocket informant, textmaker, etc. but she now prefers those to the rom apps

so back to the point, could the palm users have stopped touting the battery life because they couldn't acheive weeks of battery life on their own devices?

Not precisely -- the old Palm devices (e.g., B&W units) did have crazy battery life (on the order of many tens of hours), so the "month" excuse could fly a little.

The real reason people don't talk about it anymore is because, now, Palms often have worse battery life than Pocket PCs.

My old Palm V could last a few days of heavy use and still have half it's power left. I still use it on long airplane trips, because of the huge life.
