Default More Cellphones than Landlines in the US

http://www.latimes.com/technology/la-fi-cellphone9jul09,1,6852728.story?coll=la-headlines-technology&ctrack=1&cset=true

"The number of mobile-phone users in the U.S. surpassed the number of conventional land-based phone lines in the second half of 2004, the government said Friday. By the end of the year, there were 181.1 million cellphone subscribers, compared with 177.9 million access lines into U.S. homes and businesses, the Federal Communications Commission said in a biannual report."

This isn't much of a surprise. With Pay-As-You-Go, it's easier to get a mobile phone than it is to get a landline! You can expect this trend to continue, as they are predicting 200 million mobile users by the end of 2005. 8)
