Default IE 7--love it or hate it?

I have installed IE 7 today and after the opening home page slowness, all is well. I have visited other sites and read some of the comments by those who have installed it and have problems and I am just amazed at the computer illiteracy of these people. I am not a fan of change either, but if you investigate a little, you can pretty much answer your own question.

So what do you think of IE7?

I think it's above and beyond IE6. There are a lot of features in IE7 that make it worth the upgrade, with some of the most important being true tabbed browsing and a redesign of CSS handling.

However, in all honesty, I still use Firefox, simply because it's grown on me over the years. I do fire up IE on occasion for web testing, but other than that, not much else.

There are a few things I really hate.
You can't move any other toolbars on to the 'top' bar. I really don't need an address bar that's as long as the whole screen.
They've moved everything around. All the menu items I am used to using have moved to the tabs bar.
I like tabs, I like RSS.

I have the same gripes with it as Ironguy. Yeah, they have made some improvements, but overall, it seemed less useful to me because of some "cosmetic" changes they made.

But the worst thing is, some sites no longer worked for me, especially trying to access my bank. I could put in username/password but the Submit button would not work. While I went back to IE6, same problem.

Tried Firefox and am loving it! There are a lot of subjective things that make it better to me: Laid out better, seems to be more (more easily) customizable, how do *you* want it vs. how does the company *think* you want it, etc. IMHO, of course.

Hate it. For a while, some business websites wouldn't work with IE7. I hate the security they're trying to implement with older apps AND worst of all... My HP ScanJet stopped working when it was installed. HP told me that IE7 installs a Java function that ceases the software to work correctly.

I won't be installing IE7 anytime soon. Firefox works like a champ and always has been FLAWLESS...

The anti-phishing filter in IE7 slows down web browsing significantly. I turned it off and replaced it with Kaspersky's. Even then, IE bothers me with a notification when I visit a website. I'll stick with Firefox.

I really can't understand how someone can love the biggest piece of crap in software history which also came from the worst software manufacturer ever

Well, now I'm curious. Do you use Windows or Windows Mobile?

I love IE7. It has a few quirks, but after a brief learning curve I hate to sit down to a computer with IE6 still on it. Tabs are the way to go. I've never gotten around to trying out all the other browsers out there that started the tab phenomenon. Too busy playing with the PPC.
I do agree with some of the other posters here that MS takes too much for granted without keeping in touch with the actual users of their software, but I also think it's just cool 8) to bash them even when they do come out with a good product. Now, if they could only do something about PIE......
