Default Google To Buy Opera?

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/technology/archives/2005/12/15/rumour_google_to_buy_opera.html

"Google has long been associated with Firefox and could use that as the basis for a Gbrowser, if or when it felt the need for such a thing. However, there's now a rumour going round to the effect that Google could buy Opera instead."

Of course, this is nothing more than a rumour at this point in time. However, I think it would be a nice fit for Google. They are very interested in knowing what you're looking at so they can provide better search results and more focused advertising. What better way to do that, than having a popular browser? What are your thoughts on this? What do you think is Google's next big acquisition?

If they do I hope they do something about Opera for Windows Mobile.
Smartphone Users are in a very unfair position regarding Opera compared to J2ME phones.

On J2ME:

Opera Mini is free
Opera Proxy wich shrinks pages to 10% before downloading is FREE
Opera is updated frequently

On Windows Mobile

Opera costs $30
There is NO support for Opera Proxy (for symbian there is but it costs an annual fee, so if it becomes available for SP it will also cost)
Opera for WM has not been updated in a while

:x
