Looks like Paul Allen, founder of Vulcan, Inc., is going to have an exciting and busy year.

Vulcan Inc., founded by Paul Allen, announced today that it will preview FlipStart™ at DEMO 2004, the premiere forum for new product innovation. Previously debuted as Vulcan’s “MiniPC” prototype, FlipStart™ combines the performance and functionality of Windows® XP with the connectivity of wireless PDAs to provide users with continuous access to software, email, and the Web while on the go.

A privately-developed rocket plane will launch into history on June 21 on a mission to become the world’s first commercial manned space vehicle. Investor and philanthropist Paul G. Allen and aviation legend Burt Rutan have teamed to create the program, which will attempt the first non-governmental flight to leave the earth’s atmosphere.

I think when you're a founder of Microsoft every year is exciting. However both of these things are very cool. The Filpstart looks neat, the only problem is that it doesn't have a tablet mode, which might give the OQO an edge (when they come out). Paul Allen's endeavour with Scaled Composites is also very interesting. There has been a lot recently on /. about all the X-Prize news, including a group that wants to build a private Spaceport in NM. Ahh, the joys of technology....

Actually, I prefer the vulcan design based on the pics just from the fact that the screen is protected when closed. If the OQO came with xp tablet, then it might be a different story.
