Default Moto Q Without Data/E-Mail

I just got off the phone with a U.S. Cellular rep who told me I cannot use my Motorola Q as a phone without ponying up for the E-Mail/Data package. Is that true? All I want is my contacts and calendar synced with my phone. I am in Maine and the only smartphones USC supports are Blackberry's and the MotoQ. Help!!

Default what did u tell them

first off just tell them its like a razor or something unless they ask for the imei number.. they cant stop u from using the phone without a data package.. and if they force u to.. add it and then call them back a day later and cancel it.. att tried that with me when i bout my wife a pantech duo.. i said no u dont.. they added it anyway and called them back and they removed it.. i dont want the email pakage.. i do use internet on my phones but just get the unlimited internet.. lot cheaper that way.. i currently use a tilt but still have my old q9h
