Default Can not sync mpx220 with cable.

Hello, I recently got 2 new computer. (one desk top and one laptop)

I installed active sync 4.2 and use cable to sync outlook.
But the active sync does not recognize the phone.

When I look Mpx220 and check active sync,
it says "errors"

I do not know why it will not. It happened to both of the computers.

any help is very appreciated.

What happens on the desktop/laptop, any signs of activity?

On the phone any more details on the error - any error code etc?

Ideally for the first sync it is recommended to turn off the firewalls on the PC.

Since the problem is happening on both machines, I would also recommend turning on the phone and then powering it up again before attempting the sync. Sometimes that helps.

I would also use the older rev of AS - MPX220 is an old wm2003 device

I tried again with the firewall off.

When I go to file and go to "get connected" screen,
it says, AS should automatically detect your device.
but it does not.

When I still try to connect by clicking next, nothing happens.

I also noticed
the window syas
"USB device not recognized

One of the USB devices has malfunctioned and windowns does not recognize it""

From the phone, when I click 'error'
it says "unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct and try again>

I am completely lost....

USB device not recognized error, okay, this means that the PC/laptop itself could not detect and install the necessary drivers for your MPx220.

The easy fix:
- Plug the Smartphone into a different USB port.

The tough fix:
- Go to Control Panel->System->Hardware Tab->Device manager. In the USB (Universal Serial Bus) section look for an entry with a yellow exclamation. Delete it. Reboot the computer and then re-try the usb connection.

This is also a good tip. Microsoft does recommend using ActiveSync 3.8 for the older WM 2003 based Smartphones.

hmm, the problem may be that your device is unrecognized

Just to get the base driver for modem loaded

Unplug the device from the PC

Shutdown MPX220 and remove battery

Reboot PC and shutdown firewalls when restarted.

plug the MPX220 back into your pc - different USB port if possible.

You should see new hardware found and it should find the modem in the device. Let it load and then detach phone, replace battery and start it up

then plug back into PC and it should find your device and define it to Windows. I think AS isn't finding the device because it isnt define to the PC.

Also, again, use AS 3.8

Sorry, I was away for a few days and THANK YOU for the advice.
However, I still can not get it connected.

1. I installed AS3.8
2.I tried The tough fix:
- Go to Control Panel->System->Hardware Tab->Device manager. In the USB (Universal Serial Bus) section look for an entry with a yellow exclamation. Delete it. Reboot the computer and then re-try the usb connection

I did not see any USB with yellow exclamation

3.>plug the MPX220 back into your pc - different USB port if possible

When I did this, I got the same message.
"USB device not recognized.
One of the USB devices has malfunctioned and windowns does not recognize it"
