Default US 3G Version of the HTC S730 Gets the FCC Clearance

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/01/18/us-cut-of-the-htc-s730-makes-the-fccs-cut

"If you're looking for a multitalented Windows Mobile 6 Standard handset, the follow-on to the nifty S710 Vox from HTC, the S730, is a fine device -- it really is. Only one problem, though: in its current iteration, European 3G is the one and only name of the game. That kinda took us by surprise when we first heard it since HTC's announcement of the S730 promised "worldwide 3G." What they didn't make clear is that the promise would be delivered in the form of two separate models. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the "WING200" -- an homage to the S730's "Wings" codename -- bearing support for US HSDPA on the 850 and 1900MHz bands."

For those who were planning on upgrading to the S730 but were being held back by the lack of US 3G support have something to look forward to now. The HTC device codenamed WING200 has been cleared by the FCC and the related documents can be viewed over here. Other than the radio stack changes, don't know if this device has built-in GPS and if HTC has fixed the sluggish video performance being reported by some. Let's hope that we will see a more formal announcement from HTC in the not so distant future.

I've been waiting for this one for a long time. If it's an ATT phone (and has GPS) that'll be a bonus. Although the Touch Dual is probably my first choice, I don't see showing up in the US anytime soon.

Anybody heard anything about this phone and AT&T? My 2125 is getting a little old and I was ready to spring for an HTC730 until I figured out that the 3G support was not for the US.
